Board Exam Study Tips

Board Exam Study Tips

Stressing out about exams? Most people suffer some degree of anxiety when preparing for an exam. Everyone gets stressed when the board exam is near or during exams but it’s important to keep stress under control. Passing the Board Exam is never been easy, so here are the tips on how to prepare for the board exam.

•    Develop a suitable study habit. Use every minute wisely and make every minute count. Study hard but study smarter. Studying smart means you really do not have to spend long hours studying but it does not mean you will not study at all. Everyone's different in terms of studying, so develop a study routine that works for you. Practice exam questions regularly. One of the most effective ways to prepare for exams is to practice taking reviewers, the more you review the more you are exposed to a lot of knowledge. Do not rely on luck. Instead of relying on luck and hope, focus on your review, nothing worth having comes easy.
(Take note: Remove all destruction while reviewing; mobile phones, laptop, Facebook and everything that will let you lose your focus.)

•    Eat (proper) meals regularly. This has to be the most important one. Eat regular meals to ensure your body and brain gets the energy it needs to perform. Hunger can make your anxiety worse; a good diet can help you strengthen your concentration power. Also, make sure you keep drinking plenty of water throughout your revision, and also on the exam day. Remember that being well hydrated is essential for your brain to work at its best.

•    Take regular study breaks. This might sound crazy when you are possibly cramming answers even in your sleep. But yes, you need a break.  A short study-break can make you more focused, and hence more productive. If you feel so much stress as if no matter how hard you review, nothing comes in, it’s the best time to stop and relax.  Step away from your desk and do something completely unrelated to work: get some fresh air, have a snack, grab a cup of coffee or tea. You need to give yourself breaks regularly to ensure your brain is able to absorb and process new information.

•    Get Adequate Sleep. Sleep plays a vital role in good health and well-being. Sleep deprivation can reduce your cognitive abilities and can impact your concentration. Let sleep reset your brain. Your brain needs time to assimilate the information you have gathered during the day. Commit to getting a full 8 hours of sleep. This will ensure that your brain has been properly rested and you can start studying with a fresh mind.

•    Stay active. Perform some form of physical exercise. It can help reduce stress, maintain good blood circulation, and focus. It will also distract your mind from the test and study, so your brain will have a chance to relax and refresh itself.

•    Stay positive and control your anxiety. Stop being afraid of what could go wrong and think of what could go right. Anxiety makes it impossible to pay attention to the tasks at hand, when you're unable to concentrate, you can't think clearly, and cant focus on your review, learning to reduce it is very important to study effectively for a test.

•    Have faith in God.  God makes it clear in His Word what we should do in James 1:5 “If any of you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and He will give it to you.'' God has the best plan for your life! God can definitely help you! As you trust and believe in Him, you will accomplish your dream, no matter how big it is. But remember, God only helps those who help themselves. While you pray, do all your job, review hard as you could and for sure God’s blessings will be with you when you take the examination.

Word of Wisdom:

Exam anxiety is tough but if you want to achieve your dreams, you have to put the work in and push yourself. Just answer the questions to the best of your knowledge. If somehow you didn’t make it on your first take, don’t be discouraged, don’t get frustrated. Don’t give up, study harder, and also pray harder. Allow me to share this quote with you:
