Car carrier catches fire at Incheon Port, South Korea
A Panama-hailed auto bearer burst into flames Monday while docked at the Port of Incheon in South Korea.
Authorities said the fire broke out at around 9:40 a.m. nearby time in the payload territory of the vehicle transporter, which was stacked with around 2,000 vehicles headed for Libya at the time.
The ship has been affirmed as the 52,000-ton, 200-meter-long Auto Banner.
The fire is accepted to have begun when a motor in one of the vehicles being transported overheated, starting a discharge which spread to different vehicles.
Every one of the 28 group individuals emptied the ship without damage.
Authorities said the ship touched base in Incheon from the United States on Saturday and was planned to leave for Libya on Tuesday.

There have been several cases reported in the past about accidents during mooring operation that has led to severe damage or deaths of seafarer. Snap Back ZoneThe highest number of injuries and deaths during a mooring operation on a ship are due to parting of the rope or wire hitting back to a crew member standing in the area of the rope. The area traveled by the parted rope having a force enough to kill a person on its way is known as snap back zone.
When ropes are pulled straight then the snap back zone is minimal but if the ropes are turned in bollard or roller then the snap back area increase.

World’s 1st Converted FLNG "Floating Liquefied Natural Gas" Vessel Departs Keppel Shipyard
The Owner of LNG carriers Golar LNG announces today that Hilli,the world’s 1st Floating Liquefied Natural Gas (FLNG) vessel, departed Keppel Shipyard. Following three years of conversion work at Keppel, the vessel, designed for a liquefaction capacity of about 2.4 million tons of LNG per year, was named on July 2, 2017.
Hilli Episeyo was converted from a 1975-built Moss LNG carrier with a storage capacity of 125,000 cubic meters.Hilli Episeyo is currently expected to leave Singapore between October 15 and October 20.

M/V Maria Matilde hits Calatrava, Romblon
33 people hurt after M/V Maria Matilde of Montenegro Shipping Lines Inc. hit an island in Romblon, by 5 am this morning, September 26.
According to a report from the Romblon News Network,
The ship was directed to Romblon Port from Odiongan Port to transport some passengers on board from Batangas.
According to Cajidiocan SB Member Marvin Ramos, one of the passengers of the ship, he was awakened by a loud explosion and found out that the ship he was aboard hit the island of Tablas.
The collision caused a damage to the ship’s hull living at least 30 passengers and other 3 passengers suffered major injuries.

Qualification Requirements:
- Male or female, Single
- Natural Born Filipino
- Physically fit
- Morally upright and has no derogatory record
- Born from 31-Mar-1995 to 01-April-2000
- Eligible applicants must be any one of the following
- High School Graduates of the old basic education curriculum on or before June 2016
- College Students under the old higher education curricula
- A Senior High School student expected to graduate at the end of School Year 2017-2018 from any strands of the Academic Track and Maritime Track.
- Must be coming from either of the following strands, GAS (General Academic Strand), STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Strand), ABM (Accountancy, Business and Management) and HUMMS (Humanities and Social Sciences Strand)
- Minimum height of 5 ft. 4 in. (162.5 cm) for MALE and 5 ft. 2 in. (157.5 cm) for FEMALE applicants

Container Ship Hits Terminal in Jebel Ali Port

CMA CGM vessel was attempting to berth at Terminal 1 in Jebel Ali Port in Dubai when it collided with the harbour and the leg of a crane, causing it to topple.
The incident resulted in one moderate and nine minor injuries, but thankfully no fatalities. Medical treatment for all minor injuries was received at the DP World Medical Clinic at the terminal, while the gentleman with the moderate injury, a fractured arm and leg, was taken to hospital.

Maritime News: Pirate attacks off West Africa
According to reports by the International Maritime Bureau (IMB) worldwide Piracy Reporting Centre (PRC). Pirates continue to pose a threat to shipping in West African waters and ports, . Violence against crew members is often a risk, as well as kidnapping, as the pirates attempt to steal cargoes of oil.
In one incident on 31 July, which took place around 21 nautical miles off Bonny, Nigeria, three crew members were reported missing after pirates attacked a tanker and stole crew members’ personal belongings. The Nigerian navy escorted the vessel to Bonny anchorage.

A Greek island is suffering from an “ecological disaster” after a tanker carrying more than 2,000 tons of crude oil sunk close to the island of Salamis.

ITF Help Seafarers Returned Home
The International Transport Workers' Federation (ITF) help the Russian and Lithuanian seafarers of the ice breaker Polar Star to returned home after being abandoned in the Canary Islands.
The five (5) crew members have joined the ship during May and June in Las Palmas. They had been employed by Allan Skovlund, managing director of Danica Crewing and chief executive officer of Danavis Marine, to start repair works and then after three weeks sail the vessel to Klaipeda, Lithuania, to complete the operations. The crew access to food and other supplies was restricted, the crew was unable to leave the ship and access to the vessel was limited. The men turned for help to the ITF inspector in Las Palmas, Gonzalo Galan, who successfully negotiated food supplies and access to the vessel.
Five were determined to remain on board while some crew members decided to give up and pay for themselves to go home. On 24 August the owner agreed to repatriate them and on 29 August the seafarers finally flew home.
Gonzalo Galan said: “The crew is very relieved to be home, but they have not received their salaries yet.
“The Cornwallis Financial Corporation, which represents 3264741 Nova Scotia Limited, have promised our inspector in Halifax, Canada that they will not complete the sale of the vessel until the crew is fully paid. We will keep working on that.”
